Originaire de l’Angleterre, Christopher Rownes vit maintenant en Suisse où il travaille comme enseignant. A l’âge de huit ans, il a commencé à pêcher avec une canne à mouche dans les cours d’eau de l’Angleterre et du Pays de Galles.
Il a eu le privilège de progresser dans cet art sous la tutelle du légendaire Mel Krieger, qui l’a amené à s’intéresser à l’enseignement de la pêche à la mouche. La philosophie de Krieger sur la pédagogie et l’enseignement du lancer est sans pareille, et il est demeuré le mentor de Christopher Rownes autant dans sa technique de lancer que dans l’art de la transmettre aux autres. Ils ont dirigé ensemble de nombreux ateliers dans toute l’Europe.
Christopher parle l’anglais, l’allemand et l’espagnol; il a maintenant plus de 35 ans d’expérience en technique de lancer, et est un spécialiste, avec la canne à une main des techniques Spey et «Underhand».
Il a voyagé et pêché dans toute l’Europe et côtoyé de nombreux autres experts de la pêche à la mouche. Il a eu du succès dans son enseignement à tous les niveaux, de débutant(e) à instructeur et a su transmettre son art de façon détendue et avec humour.
Il est maître instructeur (MCI) de la FFF américaine depuis 2008.

Originally from England Christopher Rownes now lives in Switzerland where he works as a teacher. He began Flyfishing at the age of eight on the small streams of England and Wales, on these brooks he caught his first wild brown trout and fell in love with their wildness and beauty.
He was privileged to study Fly-casting under the guidance of the legendary Mel Krieger. It was Mel who introduced him to fly casting instruction. His philosophy on teaching and fly-casting instruction is without parallel. Mel is his flycasting mentor, he inspired, formed, tutored and fine-tuned his fly-casting and fly-casting instruction technique.Later Mel and Christopher gave countless workshops together all over Europe.
Christopher is fluent in English, German and Spanish and has over 35 years of experience in fly casting and is a Specialist in the Underhand and Spey casting techniques with a single-handed rod.
He has have travelled, fished and instructed flycasting extensively all around the globe including England, Wales, Scotland, France, Spain, Germany, Ireland, Norway, Slovenia, Sweden, Iceland, Austria, Denmark and has been lucky to work and develop his fly casting and fly fishing techniques alongside many Internationally renowned flyfishing and flycasting experts.
From beginner level to the highest standard of all forms of fly casting Christopher has demonstrated and taught world-wide to instructor level. Christopher has spent years studying the art, science and techniques of fly casting and has acquired a reputation not only as an outstanding fly caster, but also as one with that rare ability to teach others in a relaxed and humorous way.
Christopher is a founding member and Master de Lanzado of the Comision Nacional de Lanzado- Spain.
In 2008 he became a Certified Master fly casting Instructor (MCI) of the American FFF.
